Hardwood floor staining
Staining is done in order to change
the color of a hard wood floor. Stain is a special
material, which is absorbed into the wood, but does
not cover the grain and natural wood pattern.
This is why stain is so beautiful, and is recommended
despite the fact that it is an additional process.
The staining procedure itself requires
some skill and must be done professionally.
Although it makes the floors darker, it highlights
every small scratch. This is why the sanding process,
which is done previous to the stain application must
be done flawlessly.
The stain itself must be applied evenly because it
must be evenly absorbed into the wood. Stain is different
than paint or finishing materials and must be wiped
off the floor after the application.
Stains can be found in a variety of different standard
color, and nowadays custom stain mixes are available.
